Threat level: Low
The overall risk is relatively low for visitors to Andorra, but be cautious of any potential threats. Crime against tourists is present in Andorra, although rates are relatively low. Incidents such as date rape and robbery have been reported more frequently in the past year, particularly in tourist nightclubs and bars. Travellers should also keep in mind the heightened threat of terrorism in Europe. Overall, it is a very safe country and visits for the most part are safe.
One of the biggest crime problems in Andorra is the trafficking of illegal substances. This is mostly present at the Andorra/Spanish border, with many recent cases of Andorrans smuggling drugs and other contraband across the border lines. This has meant that the security and control on borders have been increased. This does not present a direct threat to tourists.
Crime and violence rate is very low in Andorra but make sure to take care of your belongings and do not leave any items unattended.
Road travel is one of the most dangerous parts about visiting, as the only way into the country is through its renowned ice valleys. Treacherous weather conditions during the winter months make it absolutely essential to have appropriate tyres and tyre chains. It is advised to carry a supply of food and water, as well as extra warm clothing in the event of a breakdown or accident in an inaccessible area.
In general, those who wish to travel across the border lines from Andorra to Spain should not have any problems and crossings should be efficient and safe. It is advised to be cautious at all times and take sensible precautions when travelling. Do not leave your car unattended, as smugglers have been known to stash contraband in other vehicles waiting at border lines, however cases like these are rare.
Andorra is a well-established member of the United Nations. The country maintains six embassies abroad: Austria, Belgium, France, Portugal, Spain and the United States.

Be aware that it is a legal requirement for visitors travelling to or transiting to Andorra to carry two Red Warning Triangles in their vehicles, this is of particular importance when travelling in winter conditions. It is also a legal requirement to carry a certificate of Insurance with you when you are driving at all times.
